Liechtensteinpark in Vienna’s 9th district (Alsergrund) is an elegant, quiet park surrounding the historic Liechtenstein Palace. It has a small but very nicely designed playground, particularly suitable for children aged 1 to 8. There are swings, a small slide, a sandbox, and age-appropriate, safe climbing elements. The well-kept, paved paths make the park very stroller-friendly. The park itself invites strolling and picnicking on the lawns. Because the park is fairly small and tucked into a quiet residential neighborhood, it feels like a hidden gem in the middle of the city. Parents love the idyllic atmosphere and the pretty plantings of roses, hedges, and old trees. Entry to the park and use of the playground are completely free. Nearby is the Liechtenstein Garden Palace with its art collections, a nice cultural extension for older kids. The park is easy to reach by tram line D or local buses. Toilets are available in nearby cafés. Overall, Liechtensteinpark is a lovely spot for a calm afternoon with children, away from the bustle of Vienna’s larger parks.
